Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive

Since 2004, Souper Bowl of Caring has teamed up with H-E-B, Kroger, Randallís, local TV and radio stations and the Houston Chronicle as well as the Houston Texans to fight hunger and poverty in our community. All of the donations made at the food retailers are for The Houston Food Bank, and itís hundreds of agencies.†† Christian Helping Hands has been blessed to receive tons of non-perishable food from this three week food drive prior to the awaited, annual Super Bowl!!†† For more information, link to

Scouting for Hunger
The Boy Scouts of America host Scouting for Hunger in their area. Christian Helping Hands is grateful to be a recipient of their fine work. The scouts enjoy the challenge and are eager to assist the needy as best they can. They too, collect millions of cans nationwide!!! Watch your local news for this special event in your area. 


Month of May


Stamp Out Hunger


The National Association of Letter Carriers annually sponsors Stamp Out Hunger nationwide. The event has historically been the Saturday before Motherís Day. The letter carriers and postal workers do a marvelous job collecting nonperishable canned goods left at individual mailboxes. By the end of the Saturday collection day, they have collected millions of canned goods nationwide. Locally, between Friendswood and Pearland, they generally collect 10,000 pounds WOW! This is a wonderful blessing. The summer is about to begin. Children are out of school and they are hungry!!



Supplies Unlimited Can Create Every Student Success. The month of May every year is the end of the school year, but the beginning of S.U.C.C.E.S.S.Volunteers begin to collect school supplies for the next school year for Pre-K through 12th grades.Yearly, hundreds of qualifying students in our service area receive supplies.Donations of supplies or monetary donations designated for supplies and school shoes are collected to make this program a huge success for students within a needy household.

Red Barrel Food Drives

Throughout the year, the Houston Food Bank (and formerly, the Endhunger Network) host red barrel food drives, known as Stop the Hunger in local grocery stores throughout the nation.The barrels allow shoppers to purchase needed nonperishable food for assistance agencies located in their home area.Christian Helping Hands is thankful to be the benefactor of numerous red barrels in the Friendswood and Pearland communities.Our volunteers man the barrels to encourage shoppers to purchase pre-sacked items for CHH, resulting in the collection of thousands of pounds of canned goods. Santaís C.A.P.

Santaís Christmas Adoption ProgramThe Santaís C.A.P. program was actually started in 1985 when it became apparent so many children would not receive Christmas gifts.Individuals, service and social clubs, churches and businesses adopt entire families with Christmas gifts and food during the holidays. To adopt a family, contact Christian Helping Hands (281) 485-9776 anytime during October or early November to be matched up with needy families.

Holiday Harvest Annual Food Drive

Every year, the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving, Christian Helping Hands hosts Holiday Harvest Food Drive to restock the shelves for the New Year.Frozen turkeys, chickens, hams and roasts are donated to families during the long holiday vacation.Many extra volunteers are needed to work the food drive, building boxes, sorting and shelving food in the pantry warehouse.Every YEAR, new volunteers are needed and welcome!!!

Date: Saturday before Thanksgiving

Time: 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
